Super Kids Nursery is located near Algeria Street in Mirdiff, in a large villa on a quiet residential road. The head teacher, Ms Maryum Nawaz, was very informative and welcoming. The nursery currently has around 100 children of many nationalities, although the majority appeared to be from Asia, Russia or the Arab world, educated in five classes. It follows the British EYFS curriculum.

Teaching staff come from a great mix of nationalities. All very experienced and highly qualified, although English naturally is not always their native language.

The number of children to staff ratio is excellent, and there are additional members of staff as well to help out in case of need, especially with the younger children. At the time of the visit some of the children were eating lunch in a quiet and well-organized manner.

The cleanliness of this establishment was striking and impressive.

Applicants can usually be given a place if they apply before the beginning of a term, though mid-term applicants may have to wait until the commencement of the following term. The nursery accepts applications from children aged 10 months to 4 years.

Super Kids Nursery operates between 7.15 and 5pm, with 60% of the children attending from 8am – to 1pm each day. The children’s food is prepared on the premises, with breakfast and a cooked lunch offered. This service is optional, unlike some other nurseries.

Although the nursery is not large, space is very carefully used to provide the children with maximum room to play in and learn. Classrooms are colourful. There are several well-shaded outdoor areas, with sit-on toys as well as slides and climbing frames all around the building. Inside there is a soft play room as well, to enable the children to tumble about even during the hotter months. The nursery has an in-door gym for the children’s use, with minute versions of adult equipment for the children to have a go on.

Arts and crafts are an important part of the nursery school day, with messy play and independent work very much encouraged. As part of the daily activities there are opportunities for cooking and dancing, as well as the usual skills covered by the Early Years curriculum. Arabic and French lessons are provided twice a week and Muslim children receive weekly tuition in Islamic studies.

The school welcomes all children and when necessary shadow teachers are accommodated alongside their charges. At present there are two shadow teachers with children at the nursery. A full-time nurse looks after all the children’s health on a day-to-day basis.

The nursery organizes several trips for the children each year, such as trips to the Underwater Zoo in Dubai Mall, to a local farm or, more locally, to Mirdiff Park. There are two concerts, as well as a sports day organized within each academic year, giving the children opportunities to show off their skills to their parents. Parental involvement in the children’s life at school is encouraged with Family Days.

The nursery operates a school bus service, at present covering the areas of al Warqaa, International City and Mirdiff.

This is a very well-run nursery, with lots of dedicated and enthusiastic staff.
