Institute of Applied Technology, Fujairah

The Institute of Applied Technology Fujairah is a government non-profit secondary school. The school was first established in September 2005.

Currently the Fujairah campus caters to 315 students from a wide variety of backgrounds as well as 37 teaching and 18 support staff. It provides technical and vocational education opportunities for boys in two academic streams: Secondary Technical School (STS) and Applied Technology High School (ATHS).

The School works closely with Industry, Further and Higher Education institutions across the UAE to make sure that our curriculum prepares students for their future careers and studies. The language of instruction is English to maximise the number of choices that they have.

ATHS has well established links to local companies through the internship programme. STS is a more recent addition that strengthens these links by providing additional vocational skills that will enable the school to serve a wider range of companies and provide additional job opportunities.

The school is well equipped with laboratories and workshops and uses learning technologies in all teaching and learning areas to make lessons stimulating and interactive. All students are issued with either iPads or laptop computers. The Campus facilities comprises the following: 44 class rooms, 5 staff rooms, Administration offices, 10 workshops, 11 computer labs, 2 science labs, Auditorium, Community education centre, 2 cafeterias, Student recreation club and, library and football sports fields including, track and field, tennis, basket ball, volleyball courts with a planned Gymnasium including ample campus staff shaded parking.

The institute is part of seven schools throughout the United Arab Emirates which were established to provide post-secondary career-focused Technical Education (CTE) programs to meet the “industrial needs and requirements of the nation”. The school focuses on building to produce “world class technicians, engineers and scientists”.

Applicants must be GCC or UAE nationals. All schools are male only, except the Abu Dhabi and Al Ain branches which have a female campus.

The Institute of Applied Technology uses an American based curriculum with core subjects English, Science and Mathematics. All subjects apart from Arabic are taught in English through a variety of mediums including E-learning and project based learning.


Age ranges from (13 to 15 years for G9 students), and from (14 to 16 for G10 students) on the first day of classes. To enter students need to have passed eighth grade for G9 students, and ninth grade for G10 students. There is also an entry exam and interview.
