Gulf Asian English School

Gulf Asian English School is a private K-12 school located in Muweilah, Sharjah. The school was originally established in 1975 under the name Sharjah Montessori School, but later changed its name.

As of 1993 the school became affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Kindergarten students however follow a Montessori curriculum.

Facilities of the school include classrooms that are fully equipped with computers and audio visual equipment, a library, book store, canteen, audio visual room, swimming pool, gymnasium and first aid centre (equipped with an experienced doctor as well as two qualified nurses).

The school is a mixed school, but operates separate wings for boys and girls.

The school is owned by The Pace Group which told UAE newspaper, the National in 2011 it was embarking on a drive to build more primary and secondary Indian curriculum based schools. ”

“We are planning to expand our existing enterprise in the Gulf to target lower and middle-income families who often feel left out from private schooling. Indian schools [in the Gulf] are oversubscribed, and fees are rising, and we want to offer something that is more affordable for Indian families,” said PA Ibrahim, the chairman of the Pace Group. He said the initial investment for his education project would be about US$10 million (Dh36.7m) to $15m.

Currently the Pace group operates one other school in the UAE, India International School, Sharjah.

Fees are not published on the school’s Web site, but are believed to be highly affordable in the range of 4,000 AED per year for KG students, up to 6,000 AED per year for Grade 12 students.
