GEMS to launch 10 new schools, 30,000 new places

GEMS Education, the single largest provider of education in the UAE has announced plans to open 10 new schools in the Emirates over the next two years.

The UAE currently suffers from an excess of demand for good schools, with the Emirates most popular institutions with long waiting lists – up to two to three years for good primary schools.

The new schools will go some way to alleviating the situation with 33,000 new places for students across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah.

According to a Gulf News report, the new schools will have British, Indian, International Baccalaureate, American and dual curriculums and will include a range of different fee levels as well as a Leadership Academy and Teacher Training Centre in Dubai.

Some of the new facilities will be open to students in 2013 while the others will be open in 2014.

GEMS Education currently manages some of the best schools in Dubai. Of the 11 schools currently ranked outstanding by the KHDA, four are GEMS schools.
